Pop-Up Support series

Join one of our Lilac Tree Social Workers for a one-time interactive support group discussion focused around a topic or title or stage of the process. These are 1 meeting only, support-based interactive group meetings, and are limited to 8 or 9 attendees. Facing separation, trekking through a divorce or embarking on a new life after divorce can be a challenging, isolating, and sometimes vulnerable period in your life. Lilac Tree offers shelter and respite. We offer a compassionate, safe, and supportive environment.

We offer groups for every stage of the process: 

• Contemplating Separation or Divorce

• In the Process

• Life After Divorce

Our Lilac Tree Support Groups are peer-based support groups, facilitated by one of our Social Workers, all with years of experience in relationship breakdown, separation and divorce (and more).

Finding friendship and support from other people at the same stage of separation or divorce is empowering. Our groups serve to connect people who are facing similar challenges and provide a supportive, positive environment from which to learn and grow. This is your moment to empower yourself, learning to seek and receive peer-based support and give support to others when and as needed.

All Support Groups are virtual, taking place via Zoom, in a safe, non-judgmental environment where participants share their experiences, learn from and support each other.

We offer Support Groups regardless of gender identity, however, each group is single gender.

Group Requirements

What is important to us, is that you access the support you need. Fee Assistance is always available for each Support Group.

To join a group, please call Lauren, our Client Coordinator, or Julie, one of our Divorce Counselors, at 847.328.0313 or discuss during a Personalized Information Session appointment with one of our counselors.

SIZE & START DATES

Virtual Support Groups are limited in size and vary depending upon the length or topic of the group. Start dates are expected and only finalized when the group is full. All groups are run via Zoom and are managed by a Lilac Tree staff member or volunteer supporting the counselor when possible. All Zoom rooms are waiting room enabled, and on time attendance is required, as rooms are locked as the meeting begins.

COSTS

Costs vary depending on length, size, and topic of the group. We are always adapting to client needs and ideas and we vary groups and thus costs. The shorter the length, the more staff time needed to organize and manage.

Typically, our costs are as follows:

• 4-week groups are $45/ hr.

  • 1 hour groups are a total of $180

• 6-week and 8-week groups are $30 / hr.

  • 1.5 hour groups are $45 a meeting.

  • 2 hour groups are a $60 a meeting

Commitment Payments are $180 to secure a spot in a group

Fees are payable in installments, one to secure your spot in the group, a Commitment Payment, and the second or third is due before the start of the group once a start date is confirmed.

Typically this means there’s a few weeks in between each payment. Payment plans or fee assistance can been arranged - just ask! Our Ila Chaiken Scholarship Fund offers fee assistance always available.

Please note that we are unable to issue refunds once a group start date is confirmed, unless the space is able to be filled before the group begins.
