During a 60-minute private and confidential 1:1 meeting with one of our Lilac Tree Social Workers, individuals contemplating or at the beginning stages of separation or divorce receive education to help understand the legal, financial and emotional considerations involved in family and relationship breakdown that can lead to separation and divorce. • factors to consider and understand

• how to organize your thoughts

• your family situation

• how to prepare for couple or discernment counseling, separation and/or a future divorce

• how to talk and communicate with your spouse or partner

• how separation and divorce works in Illinois

• an overview of how the legal and financial process

• how to tell your children and relatives and friends

• how to prepare yourself to start the process

• when and how to hire and work with professionals

• and whatever else YOU feel you need

We will provide you with unwavering support, trusted answers and information, professional referrals and resources (if, and as needed), along with access to any other resources necessary to help you build resiliency at each step of your process.

Sometimes, depending upon how the process began, one session is not enough - in those instances, we will offer you a follow-up second session. About a third of our clients benefit from two personalized sessions, but it is always your choice.

Although our Lilac Tree Social Workers have over a 100 years of experience combined, please be aware, they provide divorce, legal, and financial information only, NOT divorce, legal or financial advice.

Personalized Sessions:

• Cost: $95 each session.

• Pre-payment is required.

• Fee assistance is always available through our Scholarship Fund. ***We’re sorry, our fund is on temporary pause***

Appointment schedules vary each week but are typically offered:

• Daytime: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays                     

• Evenings: Tuesdays, though other evening appointments can be arranged
