DIRECTIONS TO WORKSHOPS

The Lilac Tree holds most of our Workshops at the Evanston/North Shore YWCA (directions and map below). Some of our Workshops and Divorce University are held at other locations. Please check the Schedule page for program locations and maps or ask our staff for information. WORKSHOP LOCATION (Evanston/North Shore YWCA)
The YWCA is located at 1215 Church Street, Evanston, Illinois. Evanston is the first town north of Chicago on Lake Michigan’s shore. Most of our Workshops are in the YWCA building. The YWCA is on the northwest corner of Church Street and Ridge Avenue. Workshops are on the second floor of the three story brick building on the property (behind the wood-shingled house).

WORKSHOP DIRECTIONS

From Chicago:
Kennedy Expressway I-90 West to Edens Expressway I-94 West toward Milwaukee. Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles east on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Alternative from Chicago:
Sheridan Road north to Dempster Street. Turn left at Dempster Street and go approximately 1 mile to Asbury Avenue. Turn right at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

From North:
Edens Expressway 1-94 East. Exit at Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles east on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Alternatives from North:
Tri-State Tollway I-294 South. Exit at Golf Road/I-58. Go left at River Road and immediately left at Golf Road (Golf Road becomes Emerson Street) and go approximately 9 miles to Ridge Avenue (traffic light and train overpass). Do not turn at Ridge Avenue - continue through the light. Immediately prepare to turn left to enter the mall parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Edens Expressway I-94 East. Exit at 34A Skokie Road/US 41. Go 2 miles to Golf Road. Turn left at Golf Road (Golf Road becomes Emerson Street). Go 3 miles to Asbury Avenue (traffic light). Turn right at Asbury Avenue. Go 1 block to Church Street. Turn left at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Waukegan Road (north or south). Exit at Dempster Street East and go approximately 5-1/2 miles on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Green Bay Road south turns into Ridge Avenue at Emerson Street in Evanston. One block before you reach Emerson Street, make the right fork turn onto Asbury Avenue at the Mobil gas station. Go to the second traffic light at Asbury Avenue and Church Street. Turn left at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

From West:
From Kennedy Expressway I-90, take Tri-State Tollway I-294 North toward Milwaukee. Exit at Dempster Street East and go approximately 9 miles on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

Alternative from West:
Golf Road east becomes Emerson Street when it intersects McCormick Blvd. (a distance of approx. 4 miles east of Edens Expressway I-94). From this point, continue east on Emerson approximately 1 mile to Asbury Avenue (traffic light). Turn right at Asbury Avenue. Go 1 block to Church Street (traffic light). Turn left at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

From Southwest:
From the Eisenhower Expressway I-290 via Kennedy Expressway I-90 West to Edens Expressway 1-94 West - Exit I-94 at Dempster Street East and go approximately 4 miles east on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Alternatives from Southwest:
From the Eisenhower Expressway I-290 via Tri-State Tollway I-294 North toward Milwaukee - Exit I-294 at Dempster Street East and go approximately 9 miles on Dempster Street to Asbury Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

From I-88 or from I-55 take Tri-State Tollway I-294 toward Wisconsin. Exit at Dempster Street East and go approximately 9 miles on Dempster Street to Ridge Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Parking is free.

From South:
Tri-State Tollway I-294 north toward Wisconsin. Exit at Dempster Street East and go approximately 9 miles on Dempster Street to Ridge Avenue. Turn left at Asbury Avenue and go 5 blocks to Church Street (traffic light). Turn right at Church Street and immediately get into the far left lane in order to enter the YWCA parking lot on the left. Follow directions above “From Chicago.”

From Indiana:
Take I-90 or I-80/94 to I-94 northbound through Chicago, and then follow the directions above “From Chicago.”

Getting to The Lilac Tree by Metra Train and EL Train:
The YWCA is located 3 blocks west of the Davis Street EL station on the Purple Line and 2 blocks west of the Davis Street Metra Union Pacific North Line station.
